Silver topped “Glug Glug” Decanter Birmingham/Dublin 1928 Hukin & Heath
An intriguing and unusual decanter. This is called a “Glug Glug”. It has two chambers joined by five vertical glass tubes. As the contents pass from one chamber to the other and out of the spout, it makes a very satisfying and amusing glugging sound. You can just imagine the hilarity this would cause in an swanky Art-Deco lounge.
This also is unusual because it has two hallmarks, Both of them are for the renowned silversmiths Hukin & Heath, but one is for Birmingham 1928 and the other a Dublin Import mark, also for 1928. So Hukin and Heath were both the exporters and importers of this strange piece.
