An important Arts & Crafts hand wrought copper rose bowl by Hugh Wallis. 26cm (10″) in diameter x 9cm (3½”) high. The bowls stands on four brass bun feet and has a rope twist rim. The grill is a hand wrought representation of rose leaves with a gadrooned rim. (One of the clips has been replaced).
Hugh Wallis (1871–1943) was an influential English artist and coppersmith from the Arts & Crafts Movement, widely celebrated for his distinctive hand-hammered metalwork. Operating out of his workshop in Altrincham, Cheshire, from roughly 1900 until 1940.
